Adlington: “Phelps obviously never raced any teenagers”

Washed up

Rebecca Adlington has reacted to Michael Phelps’ extraordinary Olympic record by pointing out he never had to go up against suspiciously fast teenagers.

Adlington clinched bronze in a final which was won comfortably by a 15-year-old from the US, despite the race starting well past her bedtime.

This followed a 16-year-old Chinese winning two golds earlier in the Games.

The British swimmer also explained to the disappointed British media, “Phelps didn’t have to worry about having you ****s on his back all the time either.”

    That race was insane!

Thing is, that teenager wasn’t as fast as Adlington in 2008. Being six seconds off your own pace is pretty mental really, it’s probably why she is considering doing something else.

Good point Michael, although it seems odd that 15 and 16-year-olds can be so much faster than grown women, but who knows? Phelps is a beast, that at least is for certain.

I thought the BBC were a disgrace last night in the comments about her. It’s all getting a bit too jingoisitc for my taste.
