Roy Hodgson contracted to receive severance payment in 2014

Roy appreciating abuse from the stands

Roy Hodgson has put pen to paper on his contract to serve as England national team manager, to end with a severance payment in 2014.

Hodgson was chosen ahead of Harry Redknapp to take the reins for the next two years until disappointing results and countrywide mockery force the FA to get rid of yet another manager early.

The new manager enthusiastically told reporters, “Having signed a four-year deal, I’m now looking forward to working with the players until the World Cup in 2014 and then getting released two years early.

“I can understand ‘Arry being very disappointed at missing out but we all know who’ll be receiving enough dodgy payments anyway.

“I face a difficult task. It’s going to be a real challenge to disappoint the nation enough to ensure I get that payoff in two years’ time, but I’m confident I have to players and experience to achieve that.

“I ask that the country – especially the media – don’t get behind us and undermine us at every opportunity, as they have so often in the past.”
