Harry Redknapp prepares for Euro 2012 by overseeing dismal Spurs run

Suitably non-plussed

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has all but sealed his position as England manager for Euro 2012 by leading Spurs on an awful run just weeks before the end of the season.

They followed up the hammering by Chelsea in the FA Cup impressively by losing to relegation-threatened QPR 1-0, meaning that the only way down for Redknapp now is to take the reins for England’s Euro 2012 campaign.

His reliance on overrated players and his lack of tactical flexibility has seen the side’s run of form come to a grinding halt when it matters most, with perceptions of the team as the best footballing one in the league brushed aside quicker than one of their defenders.

Having English players such as Scott Parker and Jermain Defoe become key figures in their descent into mediocrity only adds to Redknapp’s claim to the national team’s management position.

Alan Pardew however has proved himself right in ruling himself out of contention months ago as his Newcastle United side have continued their sensational march towards Champions League qualification.
