Ferguson “expects more” from Young

Match winner

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he’s spoken to winger Ashley Young about the player’s diving in recent matches.

Young has won two dodgy penalties and Ferguson felt it necessary to take him aside to share some words of wisdom.

“Ashley’s recent dives have gained attention because he plays for Manchester United,” Ferguson said.

“If he was at any other club – like Chelsea – people would be congratulating him on his tactical nouse.

“I’ve spoken to him and made it clear that he needs to up his game even more if he’s going to have a big role in bringing the title back to Old Trafford.”

Young’s recent efforts have earned him endless comparisons to Olympic diving hopeful Tom Daley, whilst Didier Drogba made a big splash against Barcelona.

Roberto di Matteo defiantly claimed, “I don’t need to speak to any of my players about going to ground too easily,” to widespread laughter in the room.
