Syria peace committee shifts focus to ending UK violence against horses

Long-faced

Having assigned monitors to keep the situation in Syria under intense scrutiny, Kofi Annan and his peace-keeping taskforce are journeying hurriedly to the UK in an effort to stop the escalating violence against horses in the country.

A series of public executions of horses in recent weeks, such as the Cheltenham Festival, culminated in the Grand National yesterday which puts the lives of dozens of horses at risk, all in the name of gambling.

Organisations like the BBC stoked global anger by publicising and encouraging people to watch the cruelty live on TV, constantly reminding everyone of the odds of horses surviving to the end of the race in the hope of getting even more to part with their cash.

It is expected that Annan might threaten to impose UN sanctions on the British Horseracing Authority unless they start respecting animal rights.

It’s long odds on that happening though.
