Blackburn’s home penalty stats about to get even worse

The past week in the Premier League has been full of people talking rubbish about which teams get the most penalty decisions in their favour, with Blackburn Rovers bottom of the table again in terms of penalties conceded at home.

Tonight’s match is likely to see them anchored even further in last place as Manchester United come to town.

The statistics are towering against them as Howard Webb will be the referee for the fixture, whose personal records prove he loves to point at the spot for his boys in red.

But with Rovers enjoying a good record against United at Ewood Park, it means that something must give when an endless string of Sir Alex Ferguson’s men topple over in the box despite minimum contact.

Probably Howard Webb’s resolve.
