Team GB get success out of way early in 2012

Clinging on to expectations

Team GB completed a record haul at the World Indoor Championships, paving the way for a spectacularly barren rest of 2012.

The women’s 4x400m runners secured gold on the final day, quashing any fears amongst the British media that it would be difficult to hype up the team’s chances for the London Olympics.

Mo Farah however showed promise by failing to finish in the medals, whilst heptathlete Jessica Ennis struggled in some disciplines to miss out on gold.

Team Sky’s Bradley Wiggins joined the party by becoming only the second British cyclist to win Paris-Nice.

All that was needed was for diver Tom Daley to miss his slots at the pool due to having stayed up too late dancing in front of his webcam for preparations to be virtually complete.
