Wenger: “Success comes at a price and failure comes at a juicy profit!”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could barely contain his delight as his side’s 5-2 thrashing of local rivals Spurs was closely followed by news of a jump in profits for the club last year.

Wenger was quick to point out his decision to sell star players Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas was instrumental in ensuring Arsenal’s continued financial healthiness, not to mention their continued lack of trophies too.

“Nothing makes me happier than seeing our consistent lack of success on the pitch balanced by a slight increase in success off it,” Wenger beamed.

“People call me crazy but they haven’t even seen me trying to sell Nicklas Bendtner at a profit yet.

“I’m off to create complex accounting spreadsheets which show how much our profits will rise this year if we increase our passing speed by 1.5% without winning anything again.”
