British boxing now bigger joke than Lloyds remuneration system

February 20, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Recent actions and admissions by British boxing stars have left many comparing it to the farce that is the bankers’ bonus system.

Dereck Chisora and David Haye were questioned by police and could be banned for life after brawling on Saturday night in Munich. Their behaviour was condemned by colleague Carl Froch, who later admitted prolonging a fight so that family members could benefit financially.

Authorities have yet to react because they are still trying to work out “if these guys are on some kind of massive wind-up”.

Knocked out

“Froch had a go at me but I’m not having it!” Chisora screamed.

“I’m not a disgrace – he is! And I’m going to physically shoot him and physically burn him!”

Cricket legend Geoff Boycott rumbled, “If they were Pakistani cricketers, they’d be thrown in jail or subjected to a one-day thrashing by England.

“Both fates are pretty humiliating.”

BBC business editor Robert Peston added, “If they were banking executives, they’d probably see a small fraction of their bonuses taken back by their employer, before being allowed to continue exactly like before.”
