Reluctant front-runner

The FA has released its shortlist of candidates to replace Fabio Capello as the most mocked man in the country.

Dodgy dealer and innovative tax accountant Harry Redknapp is the favourite, but he is being run close by other individuals who already attract a lot of public loathing – most notably disgraced banker Fred “the Shred” Goodwin and ‘musician’ James Blunt.

The FA explained their selections: “Now that awful foreign bloke is gone we can choose from a particular group of Brits who we want an excuse to degrade even further.

“As well as those in the list, we are considering other famous hated names like Gary Glitter and even Maggie Thatcher.

“As long as they’re already unpopular enough to ensure they’ll either jump or be relieved to get pushed after the Euros so we can start afresh with another soon-to-be muppet then, we’ll pay them millions.

“If you can think of absolutely anyone who fits our horrendously-overinflated bill, please leave your suggestion below.”
