Andy Murray has expressed his pleasure at working with new coach Ivan Lendl, and is certain that the new partnership can result in more losses at Grand Slam finals.

Lendl lost his first four finals, whereas Murray has already racked up three and is looking to not only beat his new mentor’s impressive count, but go well beyond it.

The Scot was beaten in the Australian Open semi-final by the imperious Novak Djokovic, but has been talking about how even the few days with Lendl before the tournament improved his game to the point where he feels he will be able to lose to the Serb in future finals instead.

“Working with him so far’s been great,” Murray confirmed. “He’s an expert when it comes to losing Grand Slam finals and there’s so much I can learn from him.

“I felt like I improved a lot in Australia, so with some hard work I really believe I can elevate myself to the point of losing four Grand Slam finals – and even more.”
