Most of Russia already knows who will win 2018 World Cup

A report into the prevalence of match-fixing has revealed that the majority of Russians already know the results of matches in the 2018 World Cup – due to be hosted by the country – including which nation will win the tournament.

The survey by FIFpro found that players’ experiences of match-fixing are widespread in Southern and Eastern Europe, with many of their mother-in-laws already aware of who will win the domestic silverware in each country at the end of this season.

One anonymous Russian player confided, “You’re going to tell me that 43.5% of players here know of match-fixing, but we’ve known what the percentage was going to be ever since the betting syndicates sent out their instructions on how we were to respond to the survey months ago.

“I imagine it would save the English a lot of pain and misery to know whether or not they were going to finally win in 2018 wouldn’t it?

“But I’m not going to tell you.

“Not unless you promise to stay well clear of Syria for the time being.”
