Lewis Hamilton “feeling unthreatened” by Chris Huhne availability

Considering a career change

Lewis Hamilton has reacted calmly to questions about whether he feels his position at McLaren is under threat now that Liberal Democrat speed-machine Chris Huhne is available.

Huhne resigned from the cabinet over continuing allegations that his wife took a speeding penalty for him, and having studied the footage, senior McLaren staff are said to be impressed by his steering and control behind the wheel.

A relaxed Hamilton said, “In line with my laid-back approach to the new season, I find myself casually laughing at these rumours almost as much as I do at a Liberal Democrat party conference.

“He might have been looking like overtaking members of the coalition, but I’m a totally different opponent.”

A statement from Mr Huhne read, “It would certainly make a change from standing up for Nick Clegg.”
