Fred Goodwin and John Terry form stripped defensive partnership

Bad as a banker

Former banker Fred Goodwin and former footballer John Terry are teaming up to form an impenetrable defensive line against this weekend’s media attack following their respective strippings this week.

Goodwin lost his knighthood for his role in RBS’s near-collapse during the recession, and Terry lost the captain’s armband due to ongoing criminal investigations that he racially abused Anton Ferdinand.

The FA said, “We’ve all heard more than enough about Terry stripping in the past but this is a step too far and even we’ve had to take action.”

And Her Majesty told us, “I was informed by my untaxed advisors that “The Shred” was no longer appropriate knighthood material.

“They assured me it would be a popular move, and he’s got so much money from his pension anyway that he probably wouldn’t notice.”

Pundits are universally agreed that this unlikely partnership is doomed to be brought down by scandal before Monday morning, whilst Rio Ferdinand has declined receiving the spare knighthood for services for banking.
