Everton supporters are disbelieving upon receiving news that the club is considering splashing out £2.50 on Manchester United’s fourth-choice water-carrier, Darren Gibson.

Goodison Park faithful struggle to recall the last time they even signed a player permanently, with all newcomers since 1950 being brought in on loan agreements.

Although spirits are high following Bill Kenwright’s admission that he might deep dig into his own pockets to finally relieve Sir Alex Ferguson of Gibson, there are concerns that this could drag Everton’s finances into meltdown.

If Moyes does decide to spend the full £2.50 demanded by United, it could mean that the Toffees are unable to contemplate any future investment in the squad until the year 3031.
