“At least I’m not Ed Miliband,” argues Roberto Martinez

Wigan are labouring

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has moved to quash criticism after his side’s loss to Swindon in the FA cup by reminding everyone that it could be worse – he could be Ed Miliband.

The Latics have struggled in the league this season and the defeat in the cup could have initiated supporter unrest before Martinez played the Miliband card.

Martinez expanded, “I understand some may doubt my leadership skills but if Mr Miliband has a chance of being the next Prime Minister, what’s the problem?

“Our squad lacks quality and investment – a lot like the Labour party in fact – and if Miliband’s lot were competing in the Premier League they definitely wouldn’t be as high as nineteenth.”

Meanwhile, Blackburn’s Steve Kean was apparently “furious” at reports which compared him to Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
