Mancini blames Wes Brown for shock defeat

Roberto Mancini has reacted furiously to Wes Brown’s non-disastrous performance which contributed to Sunderland’s last-gasp victory against Manchester City today.

Opposition managers can usually rely on a defensive howler from Brown to gift them a late goal, but Brown’s removal before the end left that option impossible.

Brown under fire again

“Wes really let the boys down today,” Mancini fumed.

“We did everything we could but he wasn’t there when we needed him most with a sliced clearance at the death.

“He came up with the goods for Wigan earlier in the season so he has no excuses.

“I’ll be expecting much more when I select him in the future or I will have to consider sending him back to United.”
