Football supporters hoping to survive till Boxing Day fixtures

In the Christmas spirit

With Christmas Day well under way, complete with its utter dreadfulness, football supporters across the nation are holed up, counting every second until the Boxing Day fixtures save them from the overwhelming festive Hell.

Christmas is the one thing which can make grown men tremble with more fear than the thought of being a Blackburn Rovers supporter, and right now many are striving to endure the pain in the knowledge that they have to wait at least another day for their beloved team to rescue them from their seemingly-endless plight.

Shivering violently on his bed, Dan in Birkenhead whimpered, “It’s horrible, I don’t want to think about it.

“I’d even take a seat at Stoke v Aston Villa over this.”

Hiding from the in-laws in his study, Mike in Colchester whispered, “I’ve escaped to watch a repeat of ‘Match of the Day’.

“Join me if you like but keep quiet in case they hear us and hunt us down.

“We’ll be trapped like animals.”
