Brian Moore: At least English can play blame game

Former England hooker Brian Moore has urged the RFU to sack somebody in the wake of the shambolic World Cup conduct so that they can still boast to be world-class at blaming each other.

There has been a disappointing lack of fallout given the unprofessional circumstances surrounding the quarter-final defeat to France, with none of the top officials booted unceremoniously out the door as yet.

Moore said, “Coach Martin Johnson let us down again by resigning before his unorganised paymasters worked out who was going to fire him.

Andrew kicked for three points

“That was a bigger anti-climax than the World Cup final itself.

“Someone has to pay the price. Please.

“But there are still others who remain employed who can certainly shoulder a lot of blame and responsibility for receiving personal abuse from the press.

“I have no-one particular in mind, do I, Rob Andrew?”

Andrew’s response was, “The entire World Cup was a complete disgrace and the RFU is at rock bottom.

“Does it mean I’m going to resign? We’re in such a shambles that even if I wanted to I couldn’t because no-one knows what the correct procedure is or where the paperwork is kept, so no.”

The top officals will only share in responsibilty when things go well. Things have not gone well.

The whole sorry episode has degenerated into a pantomime.
