F1 supporters celebrate “most exciting puncture ever”

Much is made of the spectacular investment and work that goes into constructing such spectacles as today’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but Formula One watchers were left thanking the mystery puncture to Sebastian Vettel’s car on the first lap for creating at least some lack of predictability.

Vettel was sent spinning just after the first corner, which is when most people tend to switch off.

Mildly-interested Ron Jones in his sitting room in Cheshire said, “McLaren say Jenson Button has a problem with his KERS system. I wonder if they’ve told him to try turning it off and then back on again?

“I’m not going to last till the end coz I think my brain’s going to shut down pretty soon so I don’t know who’s going to win for sure.

“That’s quite different from most races.”

That headline is brilliant, a real killer. I don’t even watch F1 but it still grabbed my attention.

Yes that was a very exciting puncture, shame the rest of the race wasn’t as interesting!
