Harry Redknapp expected to have “quiet” January transfer window

Spurs supporters have reacted with disappointment to news that manager Harry Redknapp has indicated he will not be too interested in bringing in fresh faces during the January transfer window so that he can “focus on other matters”.

The reports have come as something as a surprise, given the amount of playing staff that come and go at White Hart Lane each season, not to mention the club’s ambitions to qualify for the Champion’s League.

A senior official at Tottenham announced, “Due to private matters, Harry believes that the team will benefit more by spending time together without the disruption of having to accommodate new players.

“He has made clear that he will prefer to spend time focusing on tactics and team-bonding, so as to avoid time-consuming journeys as part of a heroic effort to offload Roman Pavlyuchenko. Until January 23 at least.

“He has formally told the board not to bring in anyone for fear of upsetting the balance of the side – unless incoming players are offered by other clubs as a charitable donation which would definitely be tax-free.”
