Eurozone leaders firmly supporting Russia tonight

Leaders of the Eurozone countries are donning Russian scarves and enthusiastically waving Russian flags as the side prepares to play Greece in one of tonight’s international friendlies.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel – leading the cheering and chanting – confessed she had already put the countries’ troubled past behind her and was in “total support” of Russia, expressing particular admiration for their midfield’s decision-making, which she claimed “is far, far better and quicker than that of the German parliament”.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy spoke confidently of his belief in the Russian attackers “wreaking more havoc than a Greek national profit and loss account at a G20 summit”, pointing out that the Greek defence is “about as reliable as George Papandreou”.

Amidst the discussion about the chances of Russia’s strikers bagging a hatful of goals, Silvio Berlusconi slyly added, “I hope to score myself”.

Britain’s David Cameron rang earlier to excuse himself from the party, his reasoning being “you lot were daft enough to join the bloody Euro and you can sort out the mess by yourselves!”
