BHA relaxes excessive whip use limit by Tom Watson MP on James Murdoch

The British Horseracing Authority has relaxed its controversial whip use rule after new doubts emerging about James Murdoch’s testimony in the Hackgate inquiry.

There was anger amongst a number of MPs who were fined and even banned when they tried to push the culture, media and sport committee that extra mile.

Labour MP Watson reacted, “I must say I’m relieved at the news. Just hearing his accent gave me the urge to give him a few.

“Clearly Murdoch doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about and this rule change means we’ll be able to squeeze every last drop of satisfaction out of any further inquiries for the public.”

The whip rule allows anyone questioning Murdoch seven uses if he doesn’t slip up, increasing to eight if they find something juicy to press him on.

Watson added, “It’s disappointing that they aren’t letting us use more of the whip, but at least there’s going to be less of a fine or ban for those who get carried away.

“Some of us are already saving up in case we get invited to another committee hearing.”
