Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias has claimed that the club can earn up to £10 million per year if they change their stadium name to the “Theatre of Chuckles”, or something similarly appropriate.

He has also urged that they consider combining this with a new commercial shirt sponsor to maximise revenue, highlighting suitable options for the Magpies to have written all over them such as LOL.com.

Llambias explained, “Manchester United have taken the “Theatre of Dreams” one and we wanted to come up with something to boost Newcastle’s established image anyway.

“Additionally, the “Theatre of Chuckles” will be particularly meaningful for visiting supporters of other teams.

“Calling it “Kevin Keegan’s Bogus Wonderland” is another possibility.

“Many may doubt me, but wait until we finally get beaten and you’ll see exactly how ingenious a suggestion it is.”

This latest money-making idea is wonderfully timed as the side’s excellent start to the season means they are perfectly placed for a spectacular implosion, with the subsequent fallout and hilarity guaranteed for others watching on ensuring maximum exposure for new investors with a sense of humour.
