Sport fans motivated to watch golf due to enormous prize money

Media coverage of Rory McIlroy’s triumph in the Shanghai Masters appears to have been caused entirely by the first prize holding the biggest payout in the world.

People who would normally have no interest whatsoever found themselves sitting through a barely-pulsating play-off to see who would get their paws on the £1.25 million prize.

“I switched on in the hope of watching the Irish bloke blow another lead,” revealed bored Rory Tomkins from Doncaster.

“Even the appeal of witnessing that died within the endless delay between the first and second shot at the sixteenth.

“But then the commentator mentioned something about money so I thought I might as well risk slipping into a golf-induced coma just to find out which of the lucky devils would get it.

“It was like watching a golfing version of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ only better because Chris Tarrant wasn’t in it.

“Tomorrow’s Monday anyway so going comatose wouldn’t be too bad as it would mean I’d get some time off work.

“I’ve recently played myself into a tricky metaphorical bunker as far as sickies are concerned.”

That’s kind of like why I watch bowling here in the US.

Can you add a Blackberry template? This web page is tricky to read otherwise for those of us browsing with cell phones. Otherwise, in the event you can place a RSS link up, that would be good also. bdkdcfbdedgk
