Gooners fear ‘on-fire’ Van Persie could pick up long-term burn injury

Arsenal fans are horror-struck by Arsene Wenger’s claims that star man Robin van Persie is ‘on-fire’, given his injury proneness.

Van Persie scored a sensational hat-trick in the Gunners’ win at Chelsea to continue his scorching run of goal-scoring form, but this has resulted in supporters with a pessimistic or nervous disposition (i.e. all of them) to lose sleep that his inevitable long-term injury could be around the corner.

One Gooner hearing the news upon exiting Stamford Bridge wailed, “No, not RVP!

“We of course realise it’s a metaphorical expression but Wenger shouldn’t tempt fate with a striker who could pick up a serious injury whilst gardening.

“If he were to suffer such a setback, it could have significant long-term effects over his ability to play, maybe even making him as useless as Thomas Rosicky.

“I don’t want him sidelined for weeks whilst I watch Gervinho and Chamakh side-foot all our chances of silverware wide from four yards.”
