Carlos Tevez “still unaware” of huge fine despite inventing latest legal threat

Following Manchester City’s announcement yesterday that they had fined striker Carlos Tevez four weeks’ wages (approximately £1 million) for refusing to play in the Champion’s League match against Bayern Munich, it has become clear that the Argentine has yet to notice any difference in his bank balance.

The club also issued a two-week suspension but said that he had already served it. Tevez was disappointed as he hoped to have yet more time away from his manager and team-mates.

“The whole sentence-already-served stuff makes me liken him to Amanda Knox,” remarked one City supporter.

“Except that he’s not fit at all.”

The club issued their verdict in a written statement that Tevez is still to ask his translator to read for him.

“We think the supporters will be pleased with this action,” said Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

“Considering Carlos said he was misunderstand and insisted he did not refuse to play, this decision shows that the club now trusts and believes him as little as everyone else.

“His latest threats to sue Roberto Mancini for defamation of character will similarly be treated with the contempt they deserve.

“After the fantastic result at Old Trafford, it is another clear sign that Manchester City is moving in the right direction.”
