“Youth gotta be kidding me!” exclaim Gunners

Arsene Wenger today took the next step in his policy of youth encouragement, by naming a team entirely made up of mascots for Arsenal’s Carling Cup tie at home to Bolton.

He said , “I have been watching the youngsters very closely during their half-time matches. I think one or two of them have great potential, and can usher in a new age for this football club.”

When asked about young fringe players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wenger replied, “I feel it is right to give even younger players a chance. It is up to experienced and wise characters such as Alex to pass on their experience and wisdom.”

The French manager has been busy this past week, sifting through home video recordings of children playing football with their parents, and he said, “I hope the mothers and fathers don’t mind their children staying up late. It is for the good of Arsenal Football Club.”

Arsenal sources were reluctant to comment, mainly mumbling something about “Invincibles” before hanging up the phone.

I’m an Arsenal fan and I find this hilarious.
Pretty soon, Wenger will be pumping out underdeveloped foetuses to win us the league.
Either way, they can’t do THAT much worse than our current squad.
Ah, pessimism, thou art my escape.
