Mancini troubled by massive derby victory
Man City manager Roberto Mancini took his demands for improvement to new levels this week, when he revealed he locked his players in the dressing room after their stunning 6-1 derby win at old Trafford.
The Italian said, “I caught one of my players smiling in the dressing room after the match, and immediately locked the door. Smiling is a sign of complacency. We allowed Man United 8 shots on target, and that is not good enough.”
When asked what would be good enough to satisfy him, Mancini claimed, “I will not be satisfied until we win 38 games out of 38. The next player to misplace a pass, even in training, will be fined two weeks’ wages.”
While being interviewed, he was approached by an excited fan, offering his congratulations. He responded in incomprehensible Italian, while flailing his arms angrily in the air.
Turning to face his interviewer once more again, he said, with a manic glint in his eye, “Until I have every trophy in my cabinet I do not deserve a word of praise.”
