Football fans across the country are in a state of shock this weekend after a series of players and pundits repeatedly revealed that the Manchester derby on Sunday is a “big game”.

The revelations were started by United’s winger Nani and Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong, who stunned reporters when they said both teams would ideally like to win the match.

Nani explained, “We pretend to think City are a good side and we pretend to respect them, but really we can’t wait to get out there and give them a humiliating hammering.

“Plus, the manager said yesterday that we’ve ‘got to smash those rowdy rent-boys’.

“I didn’t understand a word of it – because of the accent – but I guess he wants to win too.”

Former United star Gary Pallister added to the excitement by suggesting it was the most important match of the season.

He said confidently, “Only last week Fergie was claiming the Liverpool clash was the biggest in world football, but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
