English cricketers call on Barmy Army abroad once more

Alastair Cook, after being cheaply dismissed in the third one-day international in India, made a plea for the Barmy Army to make their presence felt even more keenly in an effort to save the team.

After comprehensively outplaying the Indians in England this summer and thereby becoming the number one team in the world, expectations were that Cook and his fellow players wouldn’t get battered when the sides clashed in India, but it seems that it is happening and only the unwavering and loyal supporters can distract from the nation’s suffering on the pitch.

Cook admitted, “We need the Barmy Army as much as ever now to take the media’s attention away from the players’ performances.

“No matter where we are in the world, how badly we are playing and how completely we are being used to wipe the floor, the fans always find a way to make everything seem all right.

“Judging by how things have started here, we think they’re going to have to put in one of their best tours of all time, but we know they can do it.

“That’s what they do.”
