Gerrard feared injury would prevent him not winning anything

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted he had concerns that injury would not allow him to return
to the pitch to miss out on more leagues and cups.

Gerrard finally made his comeback against Manchester United on Saturday, and it proved a fittingly frustrating match which saw Liverpool fail to make up ground in the title race.

“It’s been the hardest six months of my career, sitting on the sidelines only able to watch the boys failing to bring in silverware,” Gerrard told us.

“I’ve been as low as I’ve ever been as a footballer, not knowing if I’d ever be able to play a leading role in the annual overhyped title bid again, before captaining the side to eventually limp home and finish below Spurs in the league.

“So I’m absolutely delighted to be back playing and being an idol to my team-mates and fans as the club slumps towards familiar disappointment around April and May.”

The truth is out there…
