France name unchanged team for New Zealand thrashing

France coach Marc Lievremont has selected an unchanged side for the World Cup final against New Zealand on Sunday, insisting they are the best 15 players to take the inevitable pummelling.

The All Blacks beat the French 37-17 in the group stage and, following the heavily-criticised performance in the narrow win against Wales, Lievremont has decided to stick with the same individuals to ensure the best New Zealand performance possible.

“It is my last game in charge and I want to go out in the most spectacular fashion – humiliation in the biggest match of my career,” Lievremont revealed.

“Many have criticised our style of play during this tournament, but we will answer them on Sunday by producing a horrendous result to go with the performance when it matters most.

“I’ve been walking the fine line between genius and madness for quite some time, and I feel like I’m ready to topple over the edge this weekend.”
